Hi YP lovelies,

So I’ve been thinking…

What kinds of things can we do together that:

a) Beat the pants of of the Global Financial Crisis ("TM") and all its ugly constraints and cutbacks.

b) Create a fantastic opportunity for us all to get together and virtually mingle – no matter how widely flung we may be around this big blue planet. And...

c) Maybe even do something good for those less fortunate?

Hmmm, a tough ask – but I’ve had some ideas and I'd very much like your feedback.

1. A YP Craft Club. Now I happen to know that a lot of you are quite handy with a pair of needles and a ball of wool, or the trusty Janome, or other crafty tools and bits and bobs, and listening to the radio the other morning, I was inspired by an Australia-wide group who knits for charities. So I got to thinking, maybe we could do something similar and pool our creative skills to make soft toys, blankets, etc for those in need of a cuddly friend or such. (If you must ask, I'm a dab hand at scarfs).

2. My second idea was to start a monthly Book Club. I'll present three titles of the same genre each month in a poll – and everyone can vote on which book to read for the following month. The book with the highest amount of votes wins. We could vary the genres each month (fiction, non-fiction, crime, autobiography, etc), maybe organise a live chat session/s to discuss the book in real time, and everyone can contribute their thoughts in a dedicated book blog..

So what do you think YouPlayers? I'm after critical feedback on these ideas – and I also want ideas from YOU!

Sounds brilliant! I'm still not past knitting square things, but it is surprising the number of bits and bobs that are made from squares and rectangles!

Great! I'll start working out the details for the YP Book and Craft Clubs this week. Any suggestions (genre/titles) for our very first book poll?

Love the Idea of the Book Club, so long as the Books aren't too long.

I suggest we start of with a good murder mystery. Agatha Christie is always popular, and may suit all ages, male or female. Looking forward to what you decide on.

Just another idea, is there any way we can convert our points to a charity donation or such as some of the survey sites do for us?

I was wondering when you earn tokens and points on some games we should give some of that money we win for charities, accessories for our avatars and prizes.

Both the book club and the craft club sound good. So will you bring back the forum? We do not need the one you had for us to complain about bugs in YouPlay, because you have this wonderful little thing the "bug report" on the bottom rhs of a page to click on to, which has my personal letter to you already set out. But a forum to exchange ideas and chat in general was extremely popular, lasted better than the chat window, so we could refer back to it, and it would probably get more of your customers.

i think just having some way to give donations to charity will help have some more publicity and even more a few more members to help donate money like maybe $1.00 will be given to charity when send in prize draw answers so can help the comuinity in lots of ways, thanks kiwi_girl xxx

I also like the idea of being able to make donations to charity - I've never been able to figure out exactly what to do with my 77 649 430 points... I was going for the big 100 000 000! I'd also like to suggest that if we donate enough points that prize packs be donated to people in hospital on our behalf - I've been in hospital a few times and been BORED out of my SCONE! Especially the children's wards...
